Sars focuses on training

Aside from investing in new technology and pushing greater stakeholder collaboration, the South African Revenue Service (Sars) will focus on stronger training and development of its people.

“To achieve this is going to require a consistent investment in a number of aspects, including recruitment, training, talent management and retention of staff,” said Sars commissioner, Tom Moyane.

He pointed out that Sars had already started training its senior management and operations managers and “refining the job competency models and proficiencies”.

“We are also placing greater focus on the control of goods and conveyances through our operating model and improved goods tracking systems,” Moyane commented.
