In the interests of elevating supply chain standards on the continent, the Southern African supply chain and operations management association (Sapics) has launched a professional body for supply chain management.
Speaking at the 40th annual Sapics conference in Cape Town recently, Sapics president Mungo Park said supply chain in southern Africa had come of age with organisations finally understanding the central role it played in the success and sustainability of a business.
With this in mind Sapics has launched the first two of five designations of its new professional body for the industry.
“The entry level and the specialist designations have been launched and over the next couple of months we will launch the other three designations of this professional body.” He said many professions and trades were supported by professional organisations and members benefited from professional recognition.
The Sapics professional body would set out to do the same for South African supply chain professionals of which the country had a wealth.
