The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has announced that its planning, transportation, and toll manager, Alex van Niekerk, has resigned to pursue another career opportunity.

Van Niekerk was responsible for the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project and worked towards stabilising and improving the operations of Sanral’s electronic tolling unit.

The agency said that Van Niekerk’s last day would be on February 28.

Until then, executive management will continue to oversee the process of permanently filling the position. – Zoë van Rooyen
