Sale of airline approved by competition body

The purchase of airline TAP Portugal by the Atlantic Gateway consortium has been cleared as “creating no barriers to competition” by the Portuguese Competition Authority.

This followed the agreement of the sale of a 61% government stake to the consortium having been signed on June 24.

However, who will actually control TAP has not yet been decided, according to the Portuguese press, and this decision is the responsibility of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC).
