A NEW ship for Safmarine - one of the replacements for the “Big Whites” - has just been named the Safmarine Nomazwe at the Danish shipyard where she was built.
She is 266-metres long and 37-m across the beam, crewed by 15 men - and with a capacity for 3700 twenty-foot containers (TEUs).
The 8-cylinder HSD-WŠrtsilŠ Sulzer diesel engine develops 45700 kW at 102 revolutions per minute - equivalent to 62 200 BHP - and Saf Nomazwe will enter the SA Europe Container Service (SAECS).
