LEONARD NEILL A TOTAL of 181 African airlines and operators are currently being investigated by teams from the African Civil Aviation Commission who have warned that strong action will be taken against any who continue to violate air safety measures. “We are not putting up with any nonsense,” says the Commission head Tshepo Peege, who is satisfied that the many accidents involving aircaft and airlines from the continent during recent years could have been avoided. “We will reassess the standards of these airlines and operators and help them put safety measures in place,” he says.
