SAFMARINE AND Maersk Sealand will continue to offer a direct dedicated service between key Asian and South African ports from the second quarter of 2005 when Mediterranean Shipping Company terminates its membership of the 3-line Safari service.
Using fully cellular container vessels the sister lines will maintain a weekly, named-day frequency on the route, a spokesman said.
“The new service will cater for the growing needs of Asian and South African customers in support of the increasing trade between these two regions.”
No final decisions have been made regarding the number and size of vessels to be deployed on the new service, details of which will be announced in due course.
