RAY SMUTS AMID NEW, as yet unproven allegations, that more ‘doctored’ South African wines are about to be uncovered, the first two perpetrators sacked by KWV for that illegal practice have found new employment. Gideon Theron, for ten years winemaker at KWV’s model estate Laborie at Paarl, is now practising his trade at Montpellier de Tulbagh while Ian Nieuwoudt, formerly of KWV, has been taken on at the Citrusdal Cellar. No further cases have been uncovered so far.
