FOURTEEN “Young Turks” from South African Container Depots (SACD) successfully graduated from a four-month leadership development programme earlier this month. It’s all part of SACD’s rebranding process started in August last year and designed to encourage staff to think and act more entrepreneurially. MD Graham Peinke developed the in-house Leadership Academy along with training consultancy Learn to Lead. Dubbed the ‘Young Turks Leadership Development Programme’, the initiative aims to build leadership capacity from within SACD in order to develop a pool of talent for the company. Fourteen delegates from Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Secunda attended the programme, and in light of its success the initiative is set to become a regular feature within SACD.
