Saaff weighs in on load control

The SA Association of Freight Forwarders has added its support to the growing lobby to make weighing of containers before they are loaded aboard ship mandatory. “Overweight and incorrectly declared weights of containers caused by a lack of load controls continue to present serious problems for everyone in the supply chain both globally and in South Africa,” Saaff CE David Logan told FTW. “With the volume of containerised traffic on our South African road network, the damage to our road surfaces on the main highway corridors from overweight containers is a major contributor to our total logistics costs.”
