SAA offers neighbours a blueprint for e-ticketing

Guidance will be provided to meet 2007 deadline ALAN PEAT SOUTH AFRICAN Airways has offered its experience in the field of electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) to other African airlines which are struggling to implement the system by the end-2007 deadline. This offer was made in a memorandum signed at the 37th African Airlines Association (AFRAA) annual general assemblyhald at Sun City last week – with a step-by-step guide developed by SAA designed to help these airlines accomplish this deadline set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for all carriers. SAA implemented e-ticketing in 2003, and will offer its expertise and provide guidance to African carriers who are feeling the pressure of the looming date, according to CEO Khaya Ngqula. The ABC guide to assist carriers in converting to e-ticketing, he added, will take into consideration cost efficiencies, systems implementation and process standardisation.
