North Star Alliance director, Paul Matthew, has been named Social Entrepreneur of the Year Africa by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum on Africa. Matthew established the Trucking Against AIDS programme which was taken up by the road freight industry and became a model of health service delivery for truck drivers in South Africa. It also led to the development of North Star Alliance in 2006. This provides mobile workers with continual access to high-quality health and safety services through “Roadside Wellness Centres”.
