SA-designed reflector attracts Europe truckers

Truck drivers in Europe are extensively using a South African patented multi-reflector system which allows 360-degree visibility of a vehicle from all angles. The compact design by TriVision Safety Systems greatly enhances the visibility of vehicles especially when visibility is poor. The box-like unit, made of Luran S – a high strength material allowing for high impact, water and dust – houses three reflectors and caters for trucks, buses, trailers, trains as well as sea-going vessels. According to Verlene Manuel, chairperson of the South African Network of Women in Transport (Sanwit) who are endorsing the product, it also offers employment opportunity to women who can put the unit together or find work by attaching the unit to vehicles for companies. “It really is a unique design as the three reflectors increase visibility from the front, side and back as well as indicating the length of a vehicle. With better visibility of a vehicle, drivers are able to make better judgments. This device makes vehicles clearly visible from a 360 degree aspect.”
