ED RICHARDSON SOUTH AFRICAN motorists have a bewildering array of choices – and it is getting bigger. Over the past few weeks, there have been announcements of two new marques. Volkswagen will be importing the Spanish Seat brand from June, and McCarthy has announced that it will also be bringing in a new brand. The new arrivals will give motorists more than 900 model derivatives from which to choose. Brand Pretorius, McCarthy’s chief executive, said the marque would be introduced in the last quarter of this year and would coincide with the establishment of a fully fledged vehicle import and distribution division. “I’m not in a position to disclose the detail as yet but it will make a meaningful contribution to our own business,” he said.
