Botswana Consolidators is exploring the possibility of adding an airfreight option to its service portfolio, says manager, Kitty Hewitt. This would be achieved through an alliance with a third party, she told FTW. “We have had a good year so far and we expect to see further growth, thanks mainly to the continued support of our customers,” she said. “Frequencies have increased on the company’s major routes, including Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho.” Hewitt concedes that there have been challenges to the freight industry in general, including the labour disputes which affected operations across the board in the sector last year, although Botswana Consolidators’ staff did not participate in the industrial action. “For the year ahead, we believe e-tolling, which is due for implementation shortly, is going to have a significant impact on operational costs,” said Hewitt.
