International car shipper and ro-ro services company Sallaum Lines has started calling on Walvis Bay. The company was established in 1985 in Switzerland. It specialises in shipping cars, vans, trucks and high and heavy equipment from Europe and the USA to West African destinations. Ocean Liner Services (part of the Bidvest Namibia group) has been appointed as the port agent for the Walvis Bay service. “Walvis Bay remains one of the best ports along the African coast for vehicle transhipment to landlocked countries. We trust that this relationship will gain momentum and strengthen,” said Ocean Liner Services general manager Jacqueline Hebbard-Ferreira. The first call by the CSCC Tianjin offloaded vehicles destined for Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. In May two more ro-ros will call on Walvis Bay, she said. The service to Walvis Bay forms part of the Sallaum Lines’ new regular service from the North West Continent to West Africa and Libya.
