THE ROAD Freight
Association has secured
funding for 19 learners to
complete its Learnership in
Road Transport Management.
This follows confirmation
from the Transport Education
and Training Authority that
funds are available. The
course was put on hold earlier
this year following Teta’s
R250-m loss arising from its
investment in Fidentia.
The learnership will
run over a period of 12
months with the University
of Johannesburg providing
the theoretical training and
LearnCorp the practical
application.
The five-module course
will cover management of
road transport, legislation,
supply chain management,
operations, technical
management and securing
the vehicle load.
Despite several calls
to Teta acting CEO Dudu
Letseli, FTW was unable
to ascertain the general
funding outlook for next
year. Reservations were
expressed when news of the
Fidentia scandal broke earlier
this year about funding
availability in 2008.
