A minority shareholder in the Airports Company of South Africa – African Harvest - has called on Minister of Transport, Blade Nzimande, to remove acting chairman Roshan Morar and CEO Bongani Maseko as directors of the state-owned entity.
African Harvest has a 4.2% stake in the state-owned entity (SOE).
In its letter to the minister, the investor said that the terms of office of Morar and Maseko had expired at the end of December 2017. The letter also requests the resolution of an impasse in disciplinary processes involving senior personnel.
This follows campaigns by Acsa employees last month to remove Maseko based on forensic reports recommending disciplinary action against him and three senior managers over alleged violations of the Public Finance Management Act.
Last week, deputy president David Mabuza said government was implementing interventions to ensure that governance was improved at SOEs in the short term.
