KEVIN MAYHEW
KITWE-BASED clearing and forwarding agent BBC Consolidations found its niche in the market place in 1999 providing a regular road link between Ndola and Johannesburg. To achieve this, the company consolidates loads to less than five tons which makes them suitable for roadfreight delivery to and from the Copperbelt and Johannesburg, according to chief operations officer Simon Boroma Mwale. “We provide a vehicle a week in each direction with our main clients being Johannesburg-based suppliers to the mines. We then backload primarily from the mines with machinery or components for repair,” explains Mwale. He routes through Botswana and has offices in Lusaka, Livingstone and Ndola. The company also offers a limited airfreight service.
