Network extended to Kimberley and Cape Town KEVIN MAYHEW THE SOUTH African Chamber of Business (Sacob) is extending its regional committee network set up to handle problems related to different types of freight transport to include Kimberley and Cape Town. On March 23 it will hold its first transport meeting at the Annual General Meeting of the Northern Cape Chamber of Commerce in Kimberley to look at the road, rail and air freight problems of the Northern Cape. This will be followed by the first meeting of a Maritime Committee in Cape Town to deal with maritime freight issues on July 19. The first meeting of a transport committee for the area is scheduled for later this year. Policy executive, transport logistics, for Sacob, Wayne Bateman, said the committees were established where a need for focused intervention on behalf of industry was identified.
