Bruce van Wyk . . . ability to link all major centres in southern Africa gives us the edge
EXPRESS AIR Services (EAS) now offers services to 22 destinations throughout Africa, a figure that is set to grow, says sales and marketing director Bruce van Wyk.
“We remain focused on our Africa expansion programme,” he says. “Our latest addition to the EAS family is Regional Air which departs Johannesburg to Nairobi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. With onward connecting flights to Asmara, Djibouti, Khartoum, Mombasa, Entebbe, Dubai, Dar es Salaam and Arusha, this offers us excellent cargo solutions north of the equator.”
Regional Air can accommodate special commodities such as dangerous goods, livestock and perishables not exceeding a maximum weight per parcel of 250kg. A British Airways B737-300 passenger aircraft is used with a cargo hold door size of 112cm wide and 86cm high.
“Rates are extremely favourable,” says Van Wyk, “and although the airline serves an already over-traded market, it is our ability to link all major centres in southern Africa which gives us a trading advantage.
“Our success thus far in Africa can be attributed to our philosophy of neutrality, ethical conduct and partnering local business. If one combines these basic philosophies with expertise, operational accountability and control throughout the pipeline, you have the ingredients for success in Africa.”
