THIS MONTH Ganas Reddy took over as liner executive of Indian national line Shipping Corporation of India.
The line operates one vessel on a six-weekly basis, but Reddy is hopeful that a second vessel will be brought into service to upgrade frequency to monthly.
Currently large volumes of rice and some containerised cargo is moving on the southbound leg, but Reddy is keen to increase return volumes from South Africa to India.
The advantage for the shipper is that we offer a direct sailing as opposed to other carriers who serve the route via the Emirates.
SCI calls at Durban, Port Louis and Mumbai (Madras on inducement).
Local agents for the service are Combine Ocean.
