The development of a sustainable and efficient supply chain model in which rail plays a central role is key if South Africa truly wants to take advantage of the mineral boom on the African continent at present. According to Kriba Naiken, director of Quattro Logistics, the development of innovative solutions like the Skiptainer, a combination of a skip and a container that is easy to fill and empty, easy to load and offload and most importantly transportable on a flatbed rail wagon, will give the country a leading edge.
