Queues build up at SA-Botswana border post

The temporary closure of three border posts between SA and Botswana after the Limpopo River overflowed its banks and flooded out the customs premises has resulted in the congestion of cargo trucks at the alternative Tlokweng border post, reports Botswana’s Daily News. Queues of trucks are building up, and a shortage of parking space is leading to blocked-in trucks, and further delays. In an interview, the principal Botswana customs officer, Monkgogi Makwati, said they started receiving a large number of trucks on transit on Saturday, March 22. She said most of the trucks were from Kazungula on their way to SA, but also that trucks from SA were a challenge, as goods were cleared in large quantities from the SA side.
