Qatar Cargo adds capacity across network

Qatar Airways Cargo has added freighter and belly-hold capacity on several international routes, including services into China, Japan, the United States and Europe.

The carrier said the network changes would increase its overall cargo capacity by 12%.

The capacity additions include:

  • Hong Kong: Passenger services will increase from 10 to 14 a week, lifting total weekly cargo capacity to 4 474+ tonnes each way.
  • Shanghai: Passenger services will increase from seven to 10 a week from June 1, lifting total weekly cargo capacity to 985+ tonnes each way.
  • Tokyo Haneda: Qatar Airways will relaunch the route on July 16 with four weekly passenger flights, increasing to seven a week from August 1, lifting belly-hold capacity to 105 tonnes a week.
  • Kuala Lumpur: Passenger services will increase to 21 a week from June 16, lifting total weekly cargo capacity to 683+ tonnes each way.
  • New York: Passenger services will increase to 14 a week, lifting weekly cargo capacity to 88 tonnes each way.
  • Houston: Passenger services will increase from three to five a week, lifting total weekly cargo capacity to 228 tonnes each way.
  • Dallas: Passenger services will increase from seven to 10 a week, providing 54 tonnes of cargo capacity a week each way.
  • São Paulo: Passenger services will increase from 11 to 14 a week, lifting total weekly cargo capacity to 479+ tonnes each way.
  • Addis Ababa: Passenger services will be upgraded from B787 to B777 aircraft, increasing available belly-hold capacity to 44+ tonnes a week each way.
  • Tunis: Passenger services will increase from seven to 10 a week, lifting weekly cargo capacity to 105+ tonnes each way.

The freighter changes in Europe include the relaunch of Boeing 777 freighter services to Vienna and the addition of a second Boeing 777 freighter to Warsaw. Vienna will now have one weekly freighter service. Warsaw will increase to two weekly freighter flights, supported by seven weekly belly-hold flights. 

The airline is also increasing or relaunching capacity to several other destinations, including Addis Ababa, Tunis, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Helsinki, Istanbul, Amman, Baghdad, Basra, Beirut, Dammam, Caracas and Bogotá.
