Restrict them to Mondays and Fridays, says Sacob

ALAN PEAT
WE HOPE you enjoyed your Easter holidays - because you were helping to add your contribution to the R2.6-billion a day cost of public holidays in SA, according to Carol O’Brien of the SA Chamber of Business (Sacob).
This calculation was part of a Sacob submission to the government’s inter-departmental task force on public holidays.
“We looked at both the first and the third worlds in our study,” said O’Brien, “and we’re quite happy that the number of public holidays in SA was much in line with all of these other countries.”
But Sacob suggests that public holidays should be restricted to Mondays or Fridays.
