SA MANUFACTURING production increased by 3% in May from 2.1% in April, its fifth month on the rise.
Sales volumes increased by 11.2% from 3.3%.
The manufacturing sector made a negative contribution of -0.3% to GDP in the fourth quarter of 2003, but these losses were reversed in the first quarter of 2004.
And, according to Statistics SA’s figures, this trend continued into the second quarter.
