CLIVE EMDON AFRICA IS unlikely to meet millennium goals for poverty reduction by 2015 despite prospects for economic growth of more than 5% this year, according to the United Nations’ World Economic Situation and Prospects 2007 report quoted by Media 24. The forecast overall economic growth in Africa of 5.6% in 2007 represents a “major turnaround from previous decades of economic stagnation” but still falls well below its developmental targets, according to the report.
