Pipeline segment to soar

The global oil and gas
sector’s logistics market
by pipeline transportation
is likely to surpass US$8
billion by 2020, according
to new research by United
Kingdom-based analyst,
Technavio.
The company released
a new report last month
titled ‘Oil and Gas Logistics
2017 – Opportunities,
Challenges, Strategies and
Forecasts’, which showed
that the pipeline segment
represented about 66%
of the total oil and gas
transportation market
share.
The overall expense
to transport crude oil or
petroleum products is a
“fraction of the cost” of
other traditional modes of
transport such as railroads
and tankers and trucks, the
report highlighted.
