First it was autonomous ships, then trucks and now it seems the airfreight industry is close to going pilotless. Analysis by investment bank UBS points out that technology to enable remotely controlled planes could appear by 2025.
A report published by UBS aerospace, airline and logistics analysts shows that the airline industry could save up to $30bn per year on flight crew and fuel costs through better optimised flight paths.
A survey by UBS showed that while most people would be afraid to fly, there were no such fears around cargo movements.
