Africa’s growing
pharmaceutical demand
presents major opportunities
for airfreight consolidators,
according to Remo
Hanselmann, regional
director at Africa World
Courier.
“The pharmaceuticals
industry is projected to grow
by 40% in Africa over the next
three years. But while there
is high demand for middle
value pharma products which
are increasingly shifting to
ocean freight, the market
for high-end, temperaturesensitive
products is still
growing,” he explained. And
he believes that consolidation
of these products in airfreight
shipments makes sense to
keep logistics costs lower.
“The integrity of the
product remains crucial
though and quality cannot be
compromised,” Hanselmann
said.
