As logistics major Ziegler continues its push into Africa, own offices are very much a part of the longerterm strategy. “We are probably the only multinational that has border offices,” says CEO Sean Moore. And plans are afoot to extend its reach from Beitbridge into Komatipoort and Groblersbrug which are the logical next steps. Walvis Bay in Namibia and Zambia are the logical focus points for the company’s own office ambitions down the line. “We already do extensive business in these countries in the mining sector which makes it a prudent move,” he told FTW. And with new shareholder Dr Xolani Mkhwanazi, who has extensive experience in the mining industry and in Africa, on board Moore believes the building blocks are all in place. “As soon as we have the South African business heading in the right direction – specifically focusing on 4PL – we’ll start developing our businesses in Africa. And we’ll do it as a team. “Having Dr X who knows and has influence in those countries will be a major boost.” INSERT & CAPTION Walvis Bay and Zambia are the logical focus points. – Sean Moore
