Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) last week lodged the first papers in the High Court following the December bombshell when Judge Louis Vorster dismissed its application to have the electronic tolling of Gauteng’s roads scrapped. “Our decision to proceed with the appeal was taken after in depth discussion by our members,” said Outa chairman Wayne Duvenage. Duvenage believes the organisation has an obligation to the public to continue fighting the implementation of tolls despite several legal experts last week going on record saying the organisation was setting itself up for a third court loss. RFA spokesman Gavin Kelly said while the RFA had previously considered taking legal action against Sanral and supported Outa, they now believed that further court action was futile.
