ZacPak Cape Town Depot operations manager and shareholder, Fabian Billy (40), died tragically last month in a hijacking incident. He was a key motivator in the launch of ZacPak, having joined the CFR Group 12 years ago as an export controller, rising rapidly through the ranks to become export manager two years later. It was his vision that saw the establishment of a packing station and later an unpacking depot, handling CFR’s export groupage packing and wine FCL consolidations. The success of the Cape Town operation culminated in the launch of ZacPak depots in both Durban and Johannesburg. He was described by colleagues as passionate about his clients, having built up a very loyal following. “He was extremely tenacious in finding solutions to problems, and was not happy until he had solved a problem,” ZacPak Group managing director Willie Nel told FTW. “He was a family man who was devoted to his wife and children and also very involved in his community, contributing a lot of his time and resources to uplifting people within the community. He was also known for his warm smile,” said Nel. He leaves his wife Oriana and children Zacheriah, Bethany and Hezekiah. CAPTION Fabian Billy
