THE NATIONAL Ports Authority has released its new tariff which comes into effect in February. The following guidelines have been issued, with the final adjustments to be confirmed early this year. In his accompanying memo, NPA CEO Siyabonga Gama notes that a significant part of the NPA revenue derives from cargo dues, “which will increase at a rate far below the current CPI of approximately 9.5%, which indicates a real decrease in cargo dues. “A schedule of revised tariffs will be provided by the end of February and clients will receive an updated NPA tariff book before April 1,” he said. Service Estimated % increase Port and Berth dues 6.5% Marine Services (Excluding Saldanha Bay) 11% (Pilotage, tug and berthing services, miscellaneous marine services) Marine Service: Saldanha Bay * A minimum adjustment to achieve cost coverage 20% * The introduction of 24 hour marine services 20% (This is additional to the minimum adjustment to achieve cost coverage above) Ship repair facilities 20% Lighthouse services 8% Cargo dues (average total adjustment) 3%
