A NEW accounting system designed to fully integrate with Advanced Customs Solutions' existing freight system is due to for official launch shortly. It is currently in its fifth month of Beta testing with a few small and medium sized clearing and forwarding agents, says ACS’s Darryl Greef, and comes with full debtors, creditors and nominal ledger functionality. “Freight system invoices to customers are automatically posted to the debtor and nominal ledgers, and supplier invoices to the creditor and nominal ledgers. Receipts and payments are processed to the debtor and creditor accounts through the system, updating the bank recon and nominal ledger simultaneously. The accounts system also caters for all other normal types of entries that are found in the popular accounting systems.” The clearing industry, by its very nature, places huge emphasis on query and reporting functions, says Greef. “We believe these are far superior to the existing mid-level accounting packages on the market with a multitude of filters available to assist with queries. And besides printing directly, all reports and query screens can be exported to spreadsheets,” he added. The drill-down facility allows the user to break down invoice transactions into line items and even view the original freight system invoicing screen without leaving the account. “By using our system, users will be able to do away with recapturing or exporting data into other accounting packages as they will have full accounting functionality,” says Greef. This year has also seen the opening of Advanced Customs Solutions’ Cape Town office. The company plans to open offices in Port Elizabeth and East London early next year.
