Nigeria’s inflation at its highest in two years

Surging food prices have caused Nigeria’s inflation rate to climb to its highest level in two years, reports business publication Bloomberg.

Nigeria’s inflation rate increased by 0.1% in August, the National Bureau of Statistics told Bloomberg, and prices increased by 0.6%.

Central bank Governor Godwin Emefiele imposed foreign currency controls this year to stabilise the naira, restricting imports and adding to price pressures.
