Nigerian ports record a boost in cargo throughput

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has recorded a 7.4% increase in cargo throughput, to reach a total of 49.3 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2015.

This compared to a total of 45.9m tonnes in the first quarter of 2014.

Of this, general cargo was 6.4m tonnes; dry bulk cargo 2.2m tonnes; liquefied natural gas (LNG) 5.5m tonnes; refined petroleum products 4.3m tonnes; full containers 233 331 TEUs; and vehicles, 30 649 units.
