In response to growing demand for services into West Africa ZIM Integrated Shipping has added new services and upgraded its vessels, according to Slava Liskovich, managing director of ZIM South Africa. “As part of a service level increase the company has upgraded the vessels operated in this service in order to accommodate the increase in business of our clients,” he says. The MAF – West Mediterranean to West Africa service which incorporates Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Ivory Coast – now includes a service to Burkina Faso via Ghana as well as a service to Kano in Nigeria. The route is Valencia- Tarragona-Algeciras-Tangier- Dakar-Tin Can Island-Bata- Malabo-Tema-Takoradi- Abidjan-Valencia. ZAF has a regional office in Lagos Nigeria, and operates under the name of Lagos and Niger Shipping Agencies. It also has offices in Ghana, Benin, Ivory Coast and Senegal which report in to the regional office in Nigeria. It has two main services into West Africa – MAF and FAX – the Far East Express Line which calls on Durban and then Nigeria (both TICT and Apapa ports), Ghana and Benin. The route is Shanghai- Ningbo-Nansha-Singapore- Port Klang-Colombo-Durban- Apapa-Tin Can Island-Tema- Cotonou-Port Klang- Shangha.
