Captain Lukas Vipanda Kufuna is the first black Namibian to be appointed captain of the port of Walvis Bay. He succeeds Captain Mussa Mandia, who served Namport from 2007 to 2012. Captain Kufuna, who was born in the Kavango region of Namibia, was trained through the Namport Cadet Bursary Scheme from 1999 to 2010. The Master Mariner Class 1 worked his way through the ranks.
