New Swazi shipping procedures kick in

Penalty fines for non-compliance

LET'S HOPE that you've been getting the new import/export procedures right - or your goods could have been delayed at the Swaziland frontier.
Not only that, but penalty fines can also be imposed if your documentation is not as it should be.
This because, from February 1, customs has introduced new procedures for goods moved between SA and Swaziland.
The new conditions lay down the following requirements:
l A minimum of six, preferably eight digit codes;
l Full physical addresses of consignor and consignee;
l Full statistical quantities and values;
l Full description of goods according to tariff headings;
l Exporter and Importer code (obtainable by using SARS DA 163 form);
l All the other relevant (mandatory) fields required on the export/import documents must be completed
