The Almar Container Group has launched a new and extended fleet of rental units which includes a variety of flexible options including cargo baskets, open tops, half heights and standard cargo containers, says new business development manager, Francois du Plessis. This is in response to a demand for greater flexibility of units for the oil and gas sector, he told FTW. “We have had some positive developments on the east coast of Africa with the introduction of additional shipping services. This has allowed us better options on repositioning our cargo carrying units (CCUs) into the right markets,” he said. In addition to the CCUs, the group also offers in-service workshop containers, dive control rooms, mud laboratories and more. “Depending on requirements, we can rent these units out or sell them,” said Du Plessis. While most of the company’s opportunities are at present in Kenya and Tanzania – Almar has offices in Mozambique, Tanzania, Angola and Kenya, he said, with growing interest in Namibia. “The growth in this area will be slow but we are hoping to button up further supply products around the activity in Walvis Bay,” he said.
