Having recently completed a major renovation project at its Durban premises, CHC Container Depot is now turning the focus on equipment. According to David Nel, CHC sales and operations manager, the company has already taken ownership of a new reach stacker at the Durban depot that will add more muscle to the facility. “We have been investing heavily in our facilities across the country and now the focus is on equipment to ensure that we are able to service our customers at the optimum level,” said Nel. He said the stacker would reduce congestion in the depot while it would also ensure a quicker turnaround time for truckers. “It will also free up dock levellers and create more space while at the same time reducing costs. All of this adds to our efficiency and productivity that ultimately benefits our customers,” said Nel. “We will purchase equipment as and when required.” According to Lee Viljoen, CHC Durban sales manager, the reach stacker will also allow the company to deal with “customs-stopped boxes”.
