New Portnet ombudsman will root out corruption

PORTNET HAS appointed Bongo Rulashe as its ombudsman to investigate irregularities, fraud and corruption of company rules and regulations by
its employees. He has also been tasked with monitoring Portnet's employees' code of conduct.
We plan to tackle all irregularities head on, and this is the way to do it, says port authority chief executive Siyabonga Gama. Portnet has made up its mind there will be a culture of zero tolerance with regard to fraud and corruption.
It is to be hoped that employees, Portnet service providers, and especially the broader public will make use of the ombudsman's toll-free number to bring to his attention any wrong-doings.
Rulashe is currently Ernst & Young's senior manager of forensic accounting services. He is a qualified attorney and has worked for 11 years as a corporate lawyer. He has also worked in an ombudsman role for Spoornet.
My brief is to investigate any acts of fraud or corruption which will be reported to me, either via the toll-free number or brought to my attention by management or any other source, he says.
