COMPU CLEARING has added three modules to its recently-developed Stash system tightening up warehousing security and audit controls.
The Stash system is a third-party warehousing system for small, medium and large warehouses which includes the latest technology in terms of software and hardware at a reasonable price
It was developed by Compu Clearing specifically for third party warehousing and can be installed in any network without too many overhead costs in terms of hardware investment. It will run on any windows PC with minimum memory and disk requirements and uses the Microsoft SQL server database.
The three modules which have now been included are bar-coding, imaging and accounting interface.
Mario Acosta Alarcon, Compu Clearing's technical director, said in warehousing software there were generally no good audit trails to help in the reconstruction of errors, which are frequent.
'"Our system now has the ability of executing off-line data validation processes to ensure that mistakes are picked up and rectified immediately and not months later. It will detect stock differences and incomplete transactions which should be a relief to warehouse managers,'" he said.
The barcoding module uses the latest technology from Symbol Technologies: hand-held scanners with Palm OS, which provide a very powerful GUI interface, making the training of the operators in a warehouse simpler.
Bar coding provides additional protection and control at all levels of warehousing management which, especially in South Africa, is a plus, he said.
The accounting interface module allows the transfer of invoice records from clients' systems into Accpac, Pastel, Brilliant and Compu Clearing financial systems.
'"We want to ensure that Stash, can be used along with any existing accounting system,'" he said.
Acosta Alarcon said the product was continuously being enhanced to incorporate any additional requests and needs of customers.
Added to the fact that customers had local support, it was a good option for the local market, he said. Already six customers in the freight industry are using the system successfully.
Stash is also being used extensively in various warehouses in Singapore.
