Professional Aviation
Services has put its
weight behind an
initiative to stamp out
crime on the Lesotho-Durban
route.
This year saw the official
registration of the Lesotho
Transporters’ Guild, a
discussion forum in which
stakeholders can debate issues
related to compliance and risk.
“Thanks to a growing
number of security-related
incidents on Lesotho
outbound routes we have seen
an increase of almost 24% in
companies using our audit and
tracking services,” said Mike
Barnard, regional manager
Free State, Lesotho and
Northern Cape.
“We have not had any losses
on containers moving under
our banner,” he told FTW.
A key component of risk-free
transport, in Barnard’s view,
is an end-to-end
solution with
a completely
integrated supply
chain.
“It’s also
important
to educate
third party
transporters in
the basics of risk
management,”
he said.
“The purpose
of the Guild is to
create a consistent
standard within the
transport industry
that is in line with
global norms.”
