Now extended to
transporters and forwarders
THE TRANSPORTATION risk management specialists, Alexander Forbes TRMS, has just re-launched a refined version of its Latitude product.
This product, said marketing and business development director William Cooper, is designed to offer cover to the small and medium sized (SMES) business sector. Those who are usually deprived of cost-effective insurance cover because of the small nature of their transactions.
Until now, they just haven't had the size to get competitive rates.
But, with the overall leverage that Alexander Forbes TRMS has, a special deal has been struck with certain insurance companies, and smaller insurers will now be able to enjoy cover at reasonable rates, says Cooper.
In this Latitude facility the small insurers will get the benefit of the overall purchase ability generated through the product.
They will also get wider cover than they could get elsewhere.
The refinement of the original product, first launched 18-months ago, has been to adapt the cover so that it now not only applies to SMES cargo owners - but also for smaller transporters and freight forwarders.
As a first of its kind in the SA transportation industry, Alexander Forbes TRMS has also web-enabled the Latitude facility.
This, Cooper told FTW, is at stage one - description of the product; basic quotes; and generating a response from the company to the enquirer.
In stage two, the web-site will move into its ultimate format.
