LEONARD NEILL THE ESTABLISHMENT of the first manufacturing facility of a new generation in catalytic converters in Rosslyn, Pretoria will start an export drive that will be among the largest from this country during the year ahead, says Joe Armstrong, chairman of the Catalytic Converter Interest Group. In addition the technology involved could attract more than R2-billion worth of additional investment in the local sector, he says. Fleetguard Emission Systems has opened the first manufacturing plant for what is termed Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) systems to help heavy duty trucks meet the Euro IV emission standards. The entire output at the plant will be exported to service the European market.
