New facility at Dube TradePort

The Shanghai-based Yangtze Optics
Africa Cable (YOAC) officially
launched its R100-million fibre optic
manufacturing facility within Dube
TradePort Special Economic Zone (SEZ)
last Friday.
The 15 000-sqm facility is expected to
be fully operational by January next year
and has the potential to “significantly
bolster South Africa’s efforts to grow
exports and expand its communications
infrastructure”, according to the KwaZulu
MEC for Economic Development,
Tourism and Environmental Affairs,
Michael Mabuyakhulu.
