New engine oil helps cut costs for fleet owners

Chevron South Africa has
launched a new premium
diesel engine oil specially
designed to optimise
equipment performance in
the local market and to help
fleet owners cut costs.
Chevron global commercial
brands manager, Leonard J
Badal Jr, said its new Caltex
Delo 400 MGX SAE 15W-40
oil, which he said comprised
an advanced formulation,
would be produced and
distributed at the company’s
local lubricant manufacturing
plant in Durban. The plant
and its premium base oil hub
offers manufacturing, storage
and infrastructure capability
Badal said the improved
formulation would benefit
both new and older diesel
engines, allowing equipment
and fleet owners to use just
one heavy duty engine oil that
operated efficiently in both
high and low-sulphur fuel
environments. The product
has been developed to help
meet emissions regulations
and adheres to OEM (original
equipment manufacturer)
requirements and
performance specifications of
the local market.
“The launch of the Caltex
Delo 400 MGX provides
customers with innovative
products that maximise
performance and minimise
operating costs, while keeping
their diesel equipment
running reliably.”
Chevron’s southern Africa
sales manager, Fabian
Magerman, said the brand
had “improved significantly”
with the introduction of the
new oil which was geared
to meet ever demanding
working conditions.
“Delo 400 MGX is
positioned to supersede the
demands of our customers
and business partners
for their high and lowsulphur
equipment needs
across all segments. Delo
has continuously exceeded
the latest API and OEM
specifications," Magerman
added.
Chevron SA is
an affiliate of Chevron

second largest energy
company, which markets
its products locally under
the Caltex brand with
around 850 service stations
nationwide. The company
operates a crude oil refinery
in Cape Town with a
production capacity of
100 000 barrels a day and
produces petrol, diesel, jet
fuel, LPG, bitumen gas and
other speciality products
